Is there a type of person who just does not have the personality to blog? I question that because I want to blog at least once a day. I love the idea of blogs. I have written in journals for years and I would rather go write in a journal than login, start typing, spell check, add pics if needed, add links if needed, then publish. How simple is that? But I feel it's like a chore. So does that mean I'm unblogible? Is that a word?

I thought of sharing my journals. Do I want to go that personal? What do I want to use my blog for? What do I want to communicate? It's a constant struggle. I know that there are blog challenges out there that you can participate in but I notice that those who participate struggle with what to post with. Even when I went live again with this blog, I blogged the things that I wanted to blog about but most of the time, I don't want to blog about those things.

Sure I like taking photos. So which one to post? Sure I would like to talk about my family but I know that I have to keep it light and not too personal for the fear and wrath of my family. Some bloggers can do that but I can't. I know my family. My family does not understand the concepts of blogging, twitting, facebooking, and/or myspacing, et al. TOO much personal information out there they say. I have been job searching for over a year but I don't want to talk about that for well I want to get a job hence why I have not relinked this blog to my website.

For me it does not make sense. I'm a graphic designer, I like all things web. I like scrapbooking and having a blog is somewhat like that. I have written for other blogs. So what makes blogging on my own different?

Am I too busy to blog? No, because I took the time to blog about how I don't blog. . .

I guess what I'm asking is, can blogging be for everyone? Tell me what gets you motivated to blog at least once a day or even once a week? Do you need to have a niche or main interest to have a blog because I like and don't like a lot of things. What do you blog about? What will you not blog about? Suggestions welcomed.

One Little Word

A good friend of mine, Julie, introduced me to this website called One Little Word. It seems that Ali Edwards is all things scrapping and came up with a concept to take a word for the year and make it your own, i.e., scrap it, photo it, etc. Use it in all areas of your life not just in some art form, is what I guess is the concept. Here is an example!

So Julie asked a few of us what our One Little Word for 2010 may be and my choice is: Accomplish(ed, ing). I have tons of to do's/get to's/ life lists and for 2010, I really want to check as many things off my list(s)! Day 5, so far so good!

Wow! I really feel accomplished. Getting this going again has really made me want to write and tell you all about what's been going on in my life since the blog went on hiatus in 2007ish.

Here are some points of interests that I will be sharing with you:

PLUTO?

O.K. I'm confused. After 100's of years and billions of science projects, Astromomer's proclaimed Pluto a "non" planet. WOW, it's not like it was making a corporation billions of dollars, it's a Planet! I feel like it's been laid off or outsourced to India or China ! What gives? Does it really make a difference if it's not a "planet", persay. IT's there, it's not moving ( well it is but . .) and it's not like it's gonna pack it's bags and move to another solar system.

If I was living on Pluto, I would be pissed. Just because it's cold and it doesn't have pretty colors or rings around it doesn't make it not a Planet.

I think Astronomers were bored and needed something to do. Maybe textbook lobbyiest were low on sales and needed something for them to re-write.

LONG LIVE PLUTO as the 9th Planet of the Solar System!!!

Life is grand . . . I now have Firefox!

I now can publish without worrying if my text will partially preview and I have the utility buttons for text style and linking! Yeah!!! And I don't get those error message that some of the pings didn't go through . . ain't life grand again!

Memphis and Nashville here I come . . .

My good friend and fellow trouble maker, Muffin, are heading to Memphis and Nashville at the end of Sept to make some trouble and have some fun. Since really getting into Rockabilly music, I've always wanted to go to Memphis to see Sun Studios, where Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison and Jerry Lee Lewis recorded as well as a slew of others. I'm not as excited as much to see Graceland but you have to see Graceland when you are in Memphis. We will be staying at the Heartbreak Hotel and taking a tour in a vintage bus around town. It should be fun. Then we are going to Jackson. Like the song says were going to Jackson to head over to Nashville and go to the Grand Ole Opry.

REDO, REDRAW, RENEW

This past weekend, I went to
Blogher, a conference for woman who blog, in San Jose, CA. And I came away with some new technology (yes, I have to get firefox), some inspiration, that I really need to make some business cards and I really need a laptop and I need to leave the crap at home so I can really enjoy myself.
Before Blogher, I decided that I'm an unhappy camper and I need to really research, find, need, want, a new job.
Before this revelation (technically it's not a revelation. Over the last couple years, I tell myself and others {sometimes a mistake} that I need to look for a new job and this time I really mean it, damn it! So I start and I don't get very far and dive/hide/run back to my comfort zone.
I decided that I wanted to back into the world of design, for being absent for about 4 years. (*Side Note* I wasn't really absent, just went down another road of design and media called Digial Asset Management and also I haven't been too absent, I have had my business and that has given me a creative outlet.)
So I said to myself, after this Blogher weekend till the end of August (taking a wee bit o break around the weekend of the 18th for my 32nd birthday), you buckle down and really get focused of this job search adventure and you go girl.
But I had to put a few obsticles out of the way that was holding me back and that is credit card debt. So I recently paid it off and has made life so much sweeter. Like a ten ton brick was on my sholders.
So my plan is REDO, REDRAW and RENEW. Unfortunatly somethings are going to be pushed aside like family and friends but I will not lose my commitment to my current employer or my clients, I'm just going to be quiet for a bit.
For REDO, my resume needs to be updated and my blog will have a new face and theme. The new blog will have a new name (if I can) and be more directed to design.
For REDRAW, update web and physical portfolio. And for RENEW, renew a commitment to myself that I made a while ago that unfortunatly that got put aside. Can't really explain it but all I can say its RENEW.
So to friends and family, if you don't hear or see much of me in the next few weeks, I'm sorry and I love you and I hope you understand.

I love the show on KCET, The History Detectives. I think it's one of the best shows on T.V./public television.

I love history and if it means somebody else doing the research for me, more the better!

Title of this blog is taken from the the song "Watching the Detective" by Elvis Costello, which is the theme song for the show! Awesome!

Found this acticle on CNN.com. But there may be a truth to that conspiracy theory that contrails can change the weather. But at the same time, this article showed up about the same week.

Here they are going to try to avoid rain for the olympics by trying to shoot rockets and other chemicals into the air but at the same time they are trying to cut down on smog.

I'm confused.

Riding the bus

So a few weeks ago, I got so mad at the gas prices so for 2 days I took the bus to work. Now I live like 10 min. from work but I wouldn't walk it. So I decided to take the bus. I thought is was fun.
I was totally relaxed, got some exercise and I was productive at work. But have I rode the bus since then, well no, but at least it was nice that I took the bus , you know what I'm saying. I've been too busy, working late and waking up late so that's why I haven't been able to catch the bus in time. I will return.
I'm kind of glad gas prices went up. It has really forced this country to find alterantive fuels and methods of transportation. Ethenal from corn, vegetable oil and even moonshine.
There is a new movie coming out called Who Killed the Electric Car?. When I worked at Hawthorne Savings we had a EVI. It was a fun car to drive and we had plug-ins at some of our branches.
I think the only thing that I can agree with George Bush is that we are addicted to oil. Funny coming from a guy who makes his living in oil. But on the other hand he won't go see Al Gore's
An Inconvenient Truth I'm sure it's media and misquoted but I have a feeling he won't see this movie.
